About
Dekia is a dedicated mental health professional and advocate for children and families, with nearly two decades of experience in child development, early childhood education, and family support services. A proud native of Houston, Texas, Dekia holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Psychology from Prairie View A&M University and a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Throughout her 19-year career, Dekia has worked across various systems including foster care, prevention and intervention services, and early childhood programs.
She specializes in supporting women impacted by domestic violence, children navigating anxiety and depression, LGBTQ+ individuals and families, and those facing emotional distress.
Dekia also brings significant experience in crisis counseling, providing immediate emotional support and intervention to individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. Her ability to remain calm and compassionate in high-pressure situations has been instrumental in helping clients feel safe, heard, and supported.
As a mother and mental health advocate, Dekia brings both personal compassion and professional expertise to every space she enters. Her commitment to holistic, culturally competent care continues to inspire the communities she serves.
